Thanks to everyone who participated in the Fix NSW Transport rally and made it such a big success.
We had over a thousand people from over 25 community groups and unions attend. Our message to stop the tolls and put public and active transport first was heard loud and clear and we received prime time coverage on Nine, Seven and ABC news. A number of follow up articles appeared in the Blue Mountains Gazette, the Newcastle Herald, the Mosman Daily, the Inner West Independent, the South Sydney Herald and Australasian Bus & Coach.
Another video was produced by Mark Gould and features John Pilger:
If you liked the music on the day, here's "It's Your Problem Gladys, Fix It" by Mark Lucas & Chris Mearns (Dead Setters):
and "Queen of Tolls" by John Lozano:
Footage from the rally was also used to provide context in the ABC report of the large public meeting held soon after by F6 Action in Rockdale:
Mehreen Faruqi MLC also presented the rally demands in NSW parliament:
Now WestCONnex is as unpopular as ever, and the Berejiklian government has lost its winning margin in the polls, but still it ploughs on. We need Labor to make an ironclad commitment that if elected in 2019, it will not proceed with any WestConnex Stage 3 contracts or support the privatisation. Please take a moment to add your name to the letter to NSW Labor leader Luke Foley calling on him to take action. To sign the letter, click HERE.
The FIX NSW TRANSPORT organisers have begun planning for another big event in August. It will be a huge CBD lantern walk uniting even more of NSW into an powerful campaign to STOP WESTCONNEX, STOP THE TOLLS and put PUBLIC AND ACTIVE TRANSPORT FIRST.
Let's keep the conversation going. If you experience a transport FAIL, don't get angry, get active. Spread the word by sharing your experiences on social media using the hashtag #fixNSWtransport.
Finally, make sure you get the message when we announce the next rally. Join our mailing list here: http://westconnex.info/join
